Re-visiting a habit from a decade ago. Carnivalism Fridays – picking a track from the crates to get you in the mood for the weekend – just for fun like.
Using Glasto lineup as inspiration here’s “Disco Infiltrator” by LCD Soundsystem—a proper tune!
Can’t wait to see them at Glastonbury this year. If you fancy a twist, give the Stanton Warriors’ remix a listen—it’s a cracking take from 2010 which was always found in matt’s record bag. Death from Above record label is a big influence in both Dom & Matt’s music collection who both lean on Disco & Nu Disco in their eclectic sets.
LCD Soundsystem, an American rock band from Brooklyn, was formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The band features Murphy, Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney, Tyler Pope, Al Doyle, Matt Thornley, and Korey Richey.
Initially signed to DFA, they joined Columbia Records in 2016. Known for singles like “Losing My Edge,” they released their acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2005, earning a Grammy nomination. Their 2007 album, *Sound of Silver*, also received critical praise and Grammy nods. After disbanding in 2011 with a farewell concert documented in *Shut Up and Play the Hits*, they reunited in 2015, releasing *American Dream* in 2017, which became their first number-one album in the U.S. and earned a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for the single “Tonite”.
